[BSG] The grass is lush and the sky bright :: PG :: Het :: 1/1

Title: The grass is lush and the sky bright
Author: [livejournal.com profile] chaletian
Fandom: BSG
Rating: PG
Spoilers: Daybreak II
Summary: Kara/Lee. I had to fix it…

Lee Adama stands in the tall grass of Earth, and talks about the mountains, and when he turns round, Kara has gone. The grass is lush and green and the sky bright blue and the air sweet, but all he can think is, she’s left me again. The grass is lush and the sky bright, but he is alone, because Kara’s mission, whatever reason she had been brought back to them, was over and he…

His foot connects with something, and muffled laughter rises from the bottom of the long grass, and Kara Thrace levers herself up on her elbows. She is laughing, mouth wide, head tilted back, all intemperate mirth. He stares.

“Lords of Kobol,” she gasps after a minute. “When did you get so gullible, Lee?” She’s laughing again, and Lee’s still just staring at her.

“Th-that’s just frakked up,” he says eventually, reaching down a hand to pull her up, not at all surprised when she pulls him down on top of her instead, so that he’s lying in the cradle of her hips, propped up on his arms as she lies beneath him. “There’s something wrong with you, Starbuck, you know that?”

She just grins, wide and beautiful, blonde hair spread around her head. She reaches up, slides one finger along the sharp planes of his face. “Careful, Lee, you could give a girl a complex.” She cocks her head slightly, hair ruffling against the ground. “Not me, though. I know you love me.”

Lee raises an eyebrow, feels Kara run her finger over it. “A little cocky, aren’t you?” he says, but they’re both smiling now. “This is it, right?” he asks, a little more hesitantly. “I mean, it’s not like New Caprica where I wake up and you’re getting married to someone else.”

She’s shaking her head before he finishes speaking, and she leans up to kiss him, sweetly, demurely. “This is it,” she agrees. She tries to kiss him again, but he backs away a little.

“And you’re not gonna zap into…” He shrugs. “I don’t even know where.”

This time, she grabs his face with both hands, and doesn’t let him move. “I’m not going anywhere, Lee Adama,” she says, and her voice is calm and her eyes serious, and she kisses him, hard and steady.

“Well, I hope you’re planning to make an honest woman out of me,” he says levelly, and her smile breaks out, irrepressible, and they laugh, and make love in the lush, green grass, under the bright blue sky.

THE END
