Sam, unconvinced by this display of brotherly restraint, shot him a glowering look as he rose to his feet, but any incipient tussle was quelled as their mother came out, bearing a plate of hotdogs and burgers which, she told her sons, were due to be barbecued by their father when he came back from his beer run.
