"Gussie isn't a parrot..."
May. 9th, 2007 04:23 pmSo, I haven’t LJed in about forever, and in fact I can’t really think of anything *to* LJ, even though I keep having mini-rants in my head about stuff the whole time. But I’ll try and think of some random things to share. My magnanimity is, as usual, beyond measure.
1. Rah once again at the continuing presumption that Gordon Brown will be the next PM. Okay, so yes, he doubtless will be. But when newspapers start publishing articles about who will be in his cabinet etc, it makes me very cross, because HE HAS NOT BEEN VOTED LEADER OF THE PARTY YET!!! A small detail, I know, but still relevant.
2. I am *such* a fangirl. And while I embrace general fangirliness as a matter of course, I always find fangirling about a particular person to be slightly disconcerting, mainly because you end up knowing random stuff about a complete stranger, so it actually feels completely like stalking. And though I *love* having fangirly friends (and oh the woe in my life if I didn’t), actually *talking* *in person* about fangirling someone (OK, yes, Jensen Ackles, obviously) makes me feel even more stalkery. And dear lord, I’ve been reading RPS. Not much, admittedly, but even not much is about a million times more than I ever have done.
3. Heroes. Heroes wins at TV. It is the most amazing tv programme in the history of the world. Which I believe I’ve said before, but it always bears repeating. And we are so close to the finale now, and it’s going to be so exciting…
4. Matters have been continuing apace in the new flat (though we have yet to find a name for it). We have decorated the spare room, and Katie’s father put up all our shelves (there are a million – we should hopefully just about be able to fit all our books on), and it looks pretty damn fine. I have painted about half my bedroom (in a very nice, very pale pink), and am hoping to get the mater to come down just before we move and bring the material for my patchwork curtains and the sewing machine etc. Maybe even *whispers* those of my books still lurking in the attic… though I think (hope) there aren’t that many left now.
5. We have Jericho-related fear, that someone might die. Because it’s the kind of programme where you have the unsettling feeling that they would be quite happy to kill off any and all of the main characters (barring, of course, super!Jake and government-issue!Robert). Last ep this week – jolly exciting.
6. Supernatural finale also looms. Last week’s ep was lovely and indeed heart-breaking. Dean. Mowing the lawn. Looking happy. Oh Dean, mon chou, c’est pas reelle… I have remained spoiler-free and hope to continue in this vein until the bitter end. Also, has anyone heard whether it’s been renewed yet?
7. We went to see Dying For It at the Almeida a little while ago, which was very funny (though I rather annoyingly missed the very beginning I was late getting to the theatre). I should write more about it, but am not currently in the mood.
