I am very tired. And was very late. Both of which, obviously, caused by the fact that I rarely go to bed at a sensible time. What with the part where I'm a motley fule. I want another holiday, but suppose I will have to make do with the weekend. And I mun tidy tonight and tomorrow, so that Katie's papa can put up the mirror in my bedroom without me dying of shame and possibly being evicted for being slatternly.

I have finished The Subtle Knife, but for some reason wasn't in the mood to continue on to The Amber Spyglass. Am reading another Susan Elizabeth Phillips book instead. I have mixed feelings about His Dark Materials. On the one hand I think they're pretty good, but on the other I think they might be a bit over-hyped. I mean, good, but not *that* good. Has everyone else read them? What do y'all think?

Seasons 2 of Prison Break and Party of Five are gradually downloading. Should have them by, ooh, Christmas...

I enjoyed the first two of the trilogy, and thought they were clever but not as outstanding as the raves of friends had had me believe. I wasn't as keen on the third. I don't quite understand why people have claimed that they are eeevil and should be burned.

I quite enjoyed the books, but they do have delusions of intellect. Presumably because Mr Pullman is an arrogant self-righteous berk. I saw him "in conversation" with the Archbishop of Canterbury in my first year at Uni & he was just rude. Rah. Intellectual debate is all well and good, but Philip Pullman was just being snotty & pseudo-intellectual. Were I the Archbishop of Canterbury (and what a strange world it would be if I were) I would have thwacked him one with a crucifix. And prayed for some smiting. There is not enough smiting these days I feel...

I read them a few years ago, right around the time when the hype started, I think. Overall, I enjoyed them, but I absolutely hated the ending.

I would say persevere. They're not eye-gougingly terrible, and you'll be able to see if we're all right or if we're all idiots ;)

I read them just before the hype started, and really have no interest in re-reading them, which is very unlike me! They were okay, but only okay. The end of the final one was sad, though!

I stared reading one years ago and lost interest. It didn't grip me at all. I'm going to have to try it again as my flatmates are raving about them
