OK, I need to stop reading the crap that some right wing lunatics in America are saying about the NHS because I want to set fire to them. Actually, no. I want to make them unemployed and broke and uninsured and *then* set fire to them, and let them fight their way through their own health system. Fuckers. The NHS has its flaws, but the guiding principle of healthcare free at the point of delivery, paid for by taxes, is the true sign of a civilised society. Je pense.

(Also - Nazi-ish? Orwellian? Death panels? Are they fucking high? Who believes this crap?)

...I find the idea of Americans criticising the NHS rather... strange.

But I guess these particular right-wing nutters are right-wing nutters with health insurance, so of course they don't have to make do with the understaffed, underfinanced free clinics like the uninsured (and just plain POOR) have to.

(then again, expecting right-wing nutjobs to talk actual sense is, in my experience, basically pointless.)

This whole situation is completely crazy and the more I read about it, the more confused I get. Letting poor people have healthcare is bad because if you can't afford healthcare then you deserve to die? And we kill old people because they're old? What? All free public healthcare systems have problems but they are still, inherently, very good things. Unless you're a crazy, rich American, in which case they are working for Satan himself. I DON'T GET IT!

May I please join you in your quest to rid the world of stupidity? Preferably before I throw my computer out of the window in sheer frustration.

They are all mad.

I am so glad when I stumble into the walk in blue and gaspy they do not say dozydormouse where is your credit card/ insurance papers tehn you may have the nebuliser they jsut fetch it for me.

There are no arguements against nationalised healthcare I can see. After all in the UK we do not provide only compassionate care to premature babies whose aprents cannot pay for SCBU. Glasshouses methinks.

My favourite bit was when they went "LOOK AT STEPHEN HAWKING the British system would totally screw him and he's lucky he's not British or he'd be dead." I can almost forgive them their stupidity for the amusement I got out of that.
