I have survived my week of induction training – hurrah! And I have an ID badge on a lanyard, which would be more exciting if I didn’t look like a complete mard on it.

On Saturday, [livejournal.com profile] katie__pillar and I larked round Richmond in a cliquey scouting out the territory kinda way (and discovered a rather nice bookshop and other fine things). When we got back to [livejournal.com profile] weird_bird’s, [livejournal.com profile] pim2005 had arrived, and we had an ice-skating-film-fest: always enjoyable (with raspberry pavlova). Sunday was spent in my PJs, being generally whiney and unhelpful (but I wiped mud off a chair!!). Ooh, and we watched the first half of The Long Way Round, which I hadn’t seen, and which was highly entertaining.

Ooh, and ice-skating planned for after the Oxford gather!

Because some times the answer's hard to hear.

Your weekend sounds fun.

Have you watched "Ice Princess"?

Did a quick Google and found a whole database of the things. Scary.

Now see, the synopsis of the first two films on the list start as follows:

1.) Martha Hayes, a woman fanatically devoted to Jesus Christ...

2.) At a convent, fragile, unearthly Sister Agnes gives birth (she says it's a virgin birth)

then also listed we have:

1.) Professor Henry Barnes decides he's lived long enough and contemplates suicide.

2.) A driven Manhattan architect, Amy, relaxes at a resort and falls for the masseur, Virgil, blind since age 3

3.) Gillian Holroyd is just your average, modern-day, witch, living in a New York

Those ice skating films, now they sound like a *blast* ...

Hehe. Scariest thing is that they aren't even all ice skating films - it's a list of *every* film that features even a bit of skating. It must have taken *forever* to compile...

Ice Princess and Cutting Edge are excellent, though.

Well I don't know about you, but I'm wanting to rent the movie about the woman falling for the blind masseur.

"Sure why not, you can plumb blind !"

(Will only make sense after viewing Series 5 'Quater to Midnight').

Have already seen that. Very clever.

Actually, the husband of someone I used to work with got a ticket for illegally parking his van. He is blind. He isn't a plumber though.

..and he's called Virgil. He's bound to be a serial killer too with a name like that. Sounds like a movie to rent, and with the added bonus of some random ice skating !

So the driving, how was *actually* doing that ?

Are you going to work your way through the list, then?

No actual driving. Twas Traffic Warden-related incompetence. Sadly.

Did you remember to take the property mags home from K's coz I... didn't.

Foxtons woman rang me today, but I didn't find out in time so I shall ring her back tomorrow and discuss details. Yus. Thought of anything else to go on the wish list?

You have an ID badge with a lanyard!? I've been here since December 1998 and I am still waiting for one!

The Long Way Round is great. I am mightily gutted that they have now released a three disc DVD set now as I already have the original set :(
