And there should be a rule that we aways carry torches, and considering how big and bulky torches must have been in those days it really is quite remarkable. Thinking about it, the FF were the definite forerunners of Mulder and Scully....
Does anybody else remember The Comic Strip Presents (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0544869/) version of this, or am I showing my age? Very funny indeed....
I don't remember his being, but he probably was. I do remember that Uncle Quentin turned out to be a "Flaming queer" (his terminology).
It was a lovely programme, though - yes, it took the p*ss, but in a very affectionate way, it couldn't offend those of us who had loved the series as kids - and, indeed, again when we got a new supply when thyme_slimy was that age. Not that I read them aloud to her - much as we both loved them, I never found that Blyton read aloud well, so she always had to read her to herself. I think she still does read Malory Towers and St Clares when she isn't well - but she doesn't like the Chalet School, which is most uncivilised of her!
