Hello everyone! Haven't posted in a while due to a complicated illness with a complicated Latin name, an accurate translation of which is not possible, but which most closely resembles 'the sickness of one whose enervation makes it hard to actually get around to doing anything productive'. Ah yes, laziness, my old friend...

So:

1. Austria. We went to Austria and it was fine. And I would like to point out that I AM NOT A BED HOG.

2. HBP. *sigh* Really, if you haven't read it by now, you should have done )

3. SG2005. Ah, such fun. I slept in a corner on about five duvets and it was all good. Despite the sun burn. And semaphore! Lots of semaphore!! Also knots!!!

4. I have three more days of this job. No comment necessary.

Eheu!

Alas for the weekend plans! There was to be picnicking and visiting of National Trust house and general frolicking, but I was sick on Friday night (for the first time in about 15 years, and I'd forgotten just how unpleasant it was) and spent all of yesterday feeling like the utmost in crap. No picnic! No pretty house! For any of us. Alas indeed.

However, I am pleased to report that I am now fine and dandy and gathering such items on my kit list as I don't have at home. Hiking boots ahoy! In less than a week, we will be in Austria. This is EXCEPTIONALLY exciting. *bumps up and down in chair*

Well, what with all this talk of Austria, I felt I had to find a pic from Camp and iconise it (if that's a word - and if it's not, it should be).

I feel nicely like I've done things. I got up (relatively) early and went into town - there just before 10 - golly! I went to see Batman Begins which, as my dear brother advised me, was super excellent, and I enjoyed it immensely. I purchased (this is said in a funny voice in my family which doesn't really come across in print - alas) some scales, and sandals for walking around in the summer (and Austria - huzzah! huzzah!) and also a tiny miniature sewing machine so I can make patchwork cushions from all the Laura Ashley squares I have just acquired off eBay. Oh and a vase, and the most beautifully casual roses (not the nasty shop-bought, thorns-off type, but the real thing), which now look v. nice.

I played my flute in the garden on Thursday. I got home from work at about quarter to six, and leapt outside once again on my quilt-pillows-clock combo, where I finished Falconer's Lure, then had tuna-mayonnaise-and-cucumber sandwiches, then took my flute out on a whim and played stuff like Greensleaves and the Morning Suite. 'Twas v. nice. Well, for me anyway. I didn't hear anything about it from neighbours or housemates, so they either weren't in or didn't care about the noise.

So, back to today. I tidied stuff, and baked a cake (hurrah for the aforementioned scales which were from Argos ergo tremendously cheap, because I am saving up for those fantastically fine Typhoon ones (in red, natch)), and did some laundry, and washed up. Hence the feeling of having done stuff, which is so much more satisfying than lolling about all weekend and feeling poo at the end of it, as I usually do. Early mornings, ho!

And then I spoke to [livejournal.com profile] xanantha, which is always fine, though I ended having a total rant about Recent Family Events, as you do. And we have a meeting to sort Austria food, as Austria is now fantastically close, and, ooh, must e-mail everyone about being sensible re books.
